Discarded to precious- The ploncho (plastic poncho)

Our project was to take something discarded and turn it into something precious.
The project was given around the time of Hurricane Harvey and wildfires in California, so our proffessor encouraged us to consider the utility of discarded objects to displaced people groups such as refugees and flood victims.
As I began reflecting on what I considered precious, I realized that safety is not only precious to me, but to flood victims, refugees and all other displaced people groups as well. Practically, I considered what safety looked like- and decided upon constructing a sewn garment meant for protection- protection from rain.
Discarded to Precious.
The result: A rain poncho constructed entirely from Aldi bags. A plastic bag poncho, a plastic poncho-

The Ploncho.
